One Christmas

One Christmas is the latest in a series of Schools Christmas Music Projects in East Suffolk, UK

Following the tremendous success of the Christmas project Heaven2Earth in 2005, and the previous projects 4un2us (2002), ‘Countdown’ (1999), ‘Let the bells ring out’ (1996) and ‘Heaven invites you to a party’ (1993) we have received so much positive feedback that we are running another project this year (2008)!

As well as raising almost £60,000 for the charity Tearfund, there has been a fantastic reaction to all aspects of the past projects from those involved. Children, teachers and parents enjoyed the events and several OFSTED inspectors have commented favourably about the projects.

We are therefore pleased to announce plans for a new project, One Christmas which is planned for Autumn 2008 and will again be Christmas focussed. The project will be run through schools in Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Ipswich, Kesgrave, Debenham, Framlingham and surrounding areas. It will be a great opportunity for children in the schools involved to participate in a professional musical recording, filming and live concerts.

Aims
The main aims of the One Christmas project are:
• To provide a creative focus for schools leading up to Christmas 2008
• To provide a unifying project for children at primary/junior schools in the area
• To raise awareness of issues of poverty and injustice
• To raise money for charity, particularly for third world children through Tearfund
• To provide resources for schools, both in music and assemblies
• To provide an opportunity for children to appear on a quality music CD, a DVD and to perform in major concerts

Output
The project output will consist of:
• A professionally recorded Music CD containing songs with the children performing
• Concerts at the Spa Pavilion during December 2008, featuring many of the children and using the OneChristmas songs
• A music DVD of several of the OneChristmas songs
• Assemblies taken by the OneChristmas team

The project is run by a team from many Christian Churches across the local area
